Their new milk processing facility, located near Levin comprises pasteurising and bottling areas which obviously require a high standard of cleanliness and air purity.
An Air Handling Unit (AHU) system was designed to provide temperature control utilising hydronic heating and cooling, and ventilating the spaces with filtered, clean, outdoor air.
The finely tuned ‘pressure cascade’ ensures that air movement is always from the most to least clean areas, then ultimately to outside – ensuring no contamination can occur.
Designing a system which is necessarily highly bespoke for a facility of this nature is an exciting engineering challenge. There are many variables at play and their interaction must be carefully considered in order to achieve the desired performance criteria.
